Johnny Depp can exhale a huge sigh of relief now that the stormy legal battle is over. It all happened today (June 1) and his fans have trooped on social media to congratulate him.
Did Johnny Depp win defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard?
A jury ruled in favor of Johnny Depp in his libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday, proving that Amy Heard fabricated claims that Depp abused her before and during their brief marriage.
Depp sued Heard for $50 million after she called herself a public figure representing domestic abuse in a publication for The Washington Post 4 years ago.
Heard then filed a countersuit against Depp for $100 million.
However, at the end of the day, Johnny came out victorious and was awarded $10 million dollars in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in his defamation suit. Heard on the flip side was also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages by the jury.
In total Johnny Depp was awarded a whopping $15million dollars in damages.
