Morgan Freeman has been added to Russia’s list of “permanently banned” actors, joining 962 other Americans on the list.
Hundreds of others have joined the list, including Mark Zuckerberg, Hillary Clinton, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and the late John McCain.
Why Morgan Freeman was banned from entering Russian
The action comes in response to US sanctions placed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.
After starring in a 2017 video clip accusing the Russian government of tampering with American democracy, Freeman was apparently placed to the list.
According to CNN, the Oscar-winning actor narrated the promotional video for an organisation named The Committee to Investigate Russia.
It was directed by When Harry Met Sally director Rob Reiner, who has also been added to the Kremlin’s list.
Russia previously barred US Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden from entering the country.
Freeman has yet to make a public statement on the change.
Meanwhile, Russian DJ Nina Kraviz has reacted to Clone Distribution’s decision to dismiss her due to her supposed “pro-Putin” views.
She described the state of relations between her country and Ukraine as “appalling” and expressed her desire for peace.
