Tobias Wong, the design world’s enfant terrible, committed suicide on May 30 at the age of 35, according to officials.

Wong, 35, committed suicide at his East Village residence in New York City.
Wong’s long history of parasomnia or sleep disorders, his capacity to accomplish “elaborate actions that require(d) agency and focus” while sleeping, and his partner’s belief that Wong hanged himself while sleep walking were all investigated in a New York Times investigation published following his death.
Wong was born on June 10, 1974, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
After two years at the University of Toronto, he moved to New York City in 1997 to continue his study at the Cooper Union School of Art, where he studied art and architecture with a focus on sculpture. In the year 2000, he received an art certificate.
In New York City in 2004, he met his five-year partner Timothy Edward “Tim” Dubitsky, an artist and designer.
