After Coleen Rooney publicly accused Rebekah Vardy of leaking stories, a court trial is set to begin in May, and the two-day hearing this week will determine what evidence can be used when that time comes.
The Wagatha Christie controversy erupted nearly 36 months ago after Mrs. Rooney claimed that fake stories were leaked to the press after being seen only on Mrs. Vardy’s Instagram.
Mrs. Vardy denies the allegations and is suing Mrs. Rooney for defamation. The High Court heard on Tuesday (May 17) claimed that the WhatsApp messages between Mrs. Vardy and her publicist and friend Caroline Watt had been revealed ahead of the trial.
Apparently, messages between Mrs. Vardy and Ms. Watt in January 2019 showed them discussing a post on Mrs. Rooney’s private Instagram where the latter’s car had been damaged, according to Mrs. Rooney’s written case.
In their chat Mrs. Vardy said to Ms. Watt, I’d love to leak those stories x. Mr. Sherborne stated that Ms. Watt was later responsible for the story being leaked to the newspaper with Mrs. Vardy’s approval.
Mrs. Rooney tweeted after the story was published in The Sun that it was pretty sad that someone who followed her had betrayed her.
