Bruce MacVittie died on May 7 in Manhattan.
He made his Broadway debut opposite Al Pacino in David Mamet’s “American Buffalo” in 1983 and was a mainstay on Off-Broadway stages for over 40 years, as well as a familiar face on television and film.
He was 65 years old.

He is survived by his daughter, Sophia Oliva Ochs MacVittie, in addition to his wife.

Mr. MacVittie returned to acting in his later years, appearing in Ava DuVernay’s acclaimed Netflix series “The Way They See Us.” He limited his nursing duties to palliative care for friends in need.
