Jonathan Goodwin is a Welsh escapologist cum daredevil and Britain’s Got Talent star who incurred severe injuries after a fireball stunt went wrong and is likely paralyzed for life.
The sad news was revealed by his fiancee Amanda Abbington who told the Out to Lunch podcast with Jay Rayner: ‘He fell 30 feet and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs.’
‘Third degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and, nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again.’
The Sherlock actress confirmed it is unlikely Jonathan will walk again, saying: ‘He’s paralyzed now he’s in a wheelchair.” the actress said.
After the unfortunate accident, Jonathan took to his Instagram to post, ‘To death I say nananana boo boo. I have been to the very brink and dodged the worst that a human being can, without fear… because I was protected by love.”
Jonathan was released from hospital in February after four months and posted a picture of himself and his fiancee, Amanda, with the caption, “Four months later… finally out of hospital. My birthday today… can’t think of a better way to spend it than with my love”
Jonathan Goodwill is now retired from escapology after being bound to a wheelchair after incurring injuries including burns and broken legs in October 2021 while a rehearsing stunt.
