His return to directing in F9 was hailed as a watershed moment for the franchise, but it appears that his return may be brief: Justin Lin has stepped down as director of Fast X after only a few days of filming.
Lin has stepped down as director but will continue involved with the film as a producer, according to Deadline.
“Insiders believe Lin ultimately decided to step away from the franchise owing to creative issues,” according to Deadline.

While second unit shooting is expected to continue, the majority of production is expected to be put on hold until a new director is recruited, leaving many wondering who will step into Lin’s shoes.
On Twitter, names like Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, and Edgar Wright have been floated, but I won’t be pleased until the Wachowskis are handed the keys.
