Kent Dana, a legendary Phoenix TV news anchor who worked for three Valley stations, has died.
The Dana family has a strong connection to television. Joe Dana, Kent Dana’s father, was a radio and television personality from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Kent Dana began his career at KSAZ, now Fox 10, for Bill Close, (the dean of broadcasters back then), according to Dana in a 2019 profile in The Arizona Republic.
Dana then worked at KPNX (12 News) and later Channel 5 (both of which are part of Arizona’s Family stations).
In 2011, he announced his retirement.

Dana, one of Phoenix’s most popular news anchors, died at the age of 80. He passed away on Tuesday, April 19.
According to his son Joe, he developed an infection after breaking his hip in January, and his condition deteriorated after several weeks in the hospital.
