
Omer Kaleshi was a Macedonian painter of Albanian ancestry who died on April 16, 2022.
He was well-known for his epic paintings of ancient Albanians.
Omer Kaleshi is also included in the research of art critic Luan Rama, who formed a quartet of living artists in France with other Albanian painters such as Zamir Mati, Bujar Luca, and Artur Muharremi.
Kaleshi joins a long line of notable honorees, including the Leka, Crown Prince of Albania, Arberesh Aleksandar, and Ferid Murad, whose contributions to medical research earned him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1998.
Following several excursions, paintings, and exhibits in Istanbul, Rome, Vienna, Munich, London, Thessaloniki, Belgrade, and The Hague, he settled in Paris in 1956.
