Melissa Viviane Jefferson, popularly known by her stage name as Lizzo is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and flutist.
She was born on April 27, 1988 (age 33 years), in Detroit, Michigan to her parents Michael Jefferson and Shari Johnson-Jefferson.
After a few years in Detroit, she later moved to Houston, Texas, where she began performing before moving to Minneapolis, where she began her recording career in hip hop music.
She is known to be of the few musicians who have been subject to body shaming due to her thick body type but despite being overweight, she stays confident and also showcases that through the lyrics of her songs.
