American basketball player and coach, Gene Shue died on April 3, 2022.

Born Eugene William Shue, on December 18, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States of America.

He stood at about  6ft and 2inches and weighed 77kg. His love for basketball began as a child but he only got to play in high school since his family did not have the means.

He had his high school education in Townson Catholic High school and was later recruited by the basketball team of the University of Maryland under the watch of Coach Bud Millikan.

After graduation, he played for the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1954 NBA draft. He also played for New York Nicks, Detroit Pistons, and Baltimore Bullets. His coaching career started with Baltimore Bullets.

He also coached the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Second stints. In 1968 and 1981, he won the NBA Coach of the year. He was married twice but both marriages ended in a divorce. He was in a relationship with Patti Amis Massey before he died.

Gene Shue had three children. he had two daughters; Susan and Linda Shue, and a son, Greg who died in 2021. He also had a grandson.
