Herman Thomas Davis Jr., an American professional baseball player, and coach who won three World Series titles with the Los Angeles Dodgers has kicked the bucket.
The cause of his death was not revealed. However, according to the Dodgers, the two-time National League batting champion died at age 83 on April 3, 2022, in Phoenix.
Davis was born March 21, 1939, and hails from Brooklyn, New York, United States.
He attended Boys High School in Brooklyn where he played basketball with teammates of the future Basketball Hall of Fame Lenny Wilken.
In 1956, Tommy Davis had considered signing with the New York Yankees but Jackie Robinson made him change his mind to rather sign with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
In 1962, Tommy had 230 hits which were the most recorded by any player in a season.
Between 1949 and 1998, Tommy’s 153 RBIs which became a franchised record, was the highest total reached.
Tommy won batting titles in the Midwest League and Pacific Coast League in his minor league career.
He won his second batting title, edging Roberto Clemente by 6 points, and finished eighth in the MVP balloting in 1963.

Tommy Davis won World Series titles in 1959, 1963, and 1965.

The Dodgers honored Tommy Davis with a moment of silence at their exhibition game against the Los Angeles on Monday night.

Tommy Davis was survived by his wife and his children. He was married to Carol Davis.
