Petar Skansi, the Croatian professional basketball player and coach, has passed away on April 4, 2022. He was 78 years old at the time of death.
He is survived by his wife Damira Skansi and his daughter Jana.

Her father, Petar Skansi, is a professional basketball player and coach. He was a member of the senior Yugoslavia national team squad which participated in the 1968 Summer Olympics and took home a silver medal.
He was also named one of FIBA’s 50 Greatest Players in 1991.
In 1991, Croatia gained independence and Skansi became the senior Croatian national basketball team head coach. At the 1992 Summer Olympic Games, the team took home silver.
Skansi had a brief stint in politics from January 2012 to June 2014. He was elected Deputy Minister of Science, Education, and Sports to Željko Jovanović.
