Alexey Borisovich Miller is a Russian oligarch who was born on 31 January 1962.
Miller was born to an assimilated Russo-German family in Leningrad.
He went on to study at and graduate from the Leningrad Institute of Finance and Economics, where he earned a PhD in economics.
Miller is the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Management Committee (CEO) of Russia’s largest enterprise and the world’s largest public energy provider, Gazprom.
He has been the Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee since 2001. He has also served as vice chairman of Gazprom’s board of directors since 2002.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Miller was sanctioned by the British government, resulting in the freezing of his assets and a travel restriction.
