In 1977, Wyss founded Synthes USA and subsequently became the president of the company. Synthes USA is the US division of the Switzerland-based Synthes.
Initially, another Swiss company was responsible for manufacturing and transporting Synthes’ devices to the US. However, an early initiative by Wyss saw him opening a Synthes USA manufacturing plant in Colorado.
Wyss then served as the company’s global CEO till he resigned in 2007.
