
American singer and songwriter Mark Lanegan has been confirmed dead. He died on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the age of 57.
Lanegan was the leader of Screaming Trees band and ex-member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins band.
He has eleven solo studio albums under his belt, which includes three collaboration albums with Isobel Campbell and two with Duke Garwood.
Lanegan was known for his baritone voice, which was described as being “as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather” by music website, Pitchfork.

According to a statement on his Twitter page, he died at his home in Killarney, Ireland.
However, the cause of his death was not highlighted in the statement.
“Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland,” the statement said.
“A beloved singer, songwriter, author, and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley,” it added.
Last year, Lanegan was hospitalized for months after contracting Covid and was put into a medically-induced coma. It’s unclear whether this was his cause of death or not.
