Former Crewe Alexandra chairman John Bowler has died, aged 85
He joined the board of directors in 1980, serving as chairman from 1987 until he stepped down last year.
He was honoured with the contribution to League Football Award by the Football League in 2014, and appointed an MBE for services to football in the 2015 New Year’s Honours List.
He resigned last March following the Sheldon Review into child sexual abuse in football.
