Daily Mail veteran and ace Neil Swindells has died at the age of 85, a family representative has announced.
Neil who was born in 1936 started his stellar career as a junior reporter for the Sudbury Free Press at the age of 15.
After a two-year National Service with the Royal Air Force, he returned to Journalism and by the time he was 25, he was the editor at Basildon Recorder in Essex.
In 1962, he joined The Mail-in what would be a 30-year relationship as a sub-editor. He would go on to be deputy editor for several departments at The Mail.
