The Premier League’s Saturday early kickoff saw Chelsea travel to Merseyside to face Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium at 12:30 UK time.

The Blues travelled to Merseyside on the back of a 5-1 victory over Bournemouth last Saturday at Stamford Bridge, while Everton, unbeaten this season, came into the game after an entertaining 2-2 draw at Hull last Sunday.

Former Liverpool players, Xabi Alonso and Jordan Henderson were at the receiving end of jeers and boos from the Everton fans with former Chelsea player Tyrique George facing his former team mates for the first time as a second half substitute.

While Chelsea dominated most of the ball possession in the first half, chances were far and few between both teams. The closest opportunity to breaking the deadlock came from a Chelsea corner which saw captain, Moises Caicedo hit the frame of the Everton wood work.

After a goalless first half, Chelsea were off to a flying start just 45 seconds into the second half courtesy a Pedro Neto goal.

However, there was a bit of scare and a cause for worry as Chelsea goal keeper, Emiliano Martinez was stretched off the field after a collision with Everton defender Branthwaite in the penalty box which brought play to a halt.

Pedro Neto who has never scored two goals in any Premier League fixture found the back of the net once again after some questionable defending from the Everton players to put his side two goals ahead in the 90th minute with 11 additional minutes of play.

Chelsea record back to back wins after the international break and kept their first Premier League clean sheet since January with Pedro Neto walking home with the man of the match award.

Everton however, tasted their first defeat this season after 2 wins and 4 draws under head coach David Moyes.
