Following the media engagement by the minority caucus on Sunday, October 11 2026 addressed by the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee and member of parliament for the Bosome -Freho constituencybosome, Honorable Nana Asafo Adjei Ayeh ,  they raised concerns about the report of the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs on the monies spent to evacuate Ghanaians from South Africa on the back of xenophobic attacks earlier this year.

The minority caucus questioned the number of individuals who appended their signatures to the monies received from 1,964 evacuees who were brought on both chattered and commercial flights into the country, while also alleging a duplication of pages to disburse an amount of Ghs 49.7 million.

In response to these questions raised by the minority, members of the majority caucus on the committee encouraged their colleagues to do their due diligence before misinforming and misleading the public.

According to the majority, the questions raised were born out of dislike and disaffection for the Minister Of Foreign Affairs, Honorable Samuel Ablakwa and not out of genuine concerns for the Ghanaian people or the quest for proper accountability.

Honorable Zuwera Ibrahimah Mohamed, member of parliament for Salaga South further displayed the passport and details of Mr. Nana Boakye, god father of honorable Asafo Adjei Ayeh, ranking on the foreign affairs committee. In her narration, the refusal by the minister for Foreign Affairs to grant Mr. Nana Boakye a diplomatic passport has been the reason the minority led by honorable Asafo Adjei Ayeh have been on a path to tarnish the image and hard earned reputation of the minister.

Responding to questions on how over 400 children born between 2025 and 2026 also received monies, the majority said, it has been a normal practice for parents or guardians to receive monies on behalf of their children and that alone doesn’t suggest or imply any wrong doing on the path of the minister or ministry while also hailing Honorable Ablakwa as a crusader of accountabilty.
