After months of disagreements, confrontations, accusations, gun fire and chaos, former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and former minister for Gender, Honorable Sarah Adwoa Safo Esq has issued a statement acknowledging her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo as the official leader of the Kantanka Family and Kristo Asafo church.
The statement issued by the former legislator further encourages all members of the Kristo Asafo church and larger Kantanka family to respect the new found unity that exists now between the siblings, calling for them to embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose.
Following the demise of their father, the late Emeritus Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka on Thursday September 11, 2025, the larger Kantaka family have rarely seen eye to eye and the cracks within the family have been on display for all to see. Many Ghanians and public commentators have attributed the problem to a struggle of power between Adwoa Safo and her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo popularly called Akofena.
For almost a year, the broader debate has been about the rightful heir to the Kantaka throne and who controls the vast empire left behind by the late emeritus. With Adwoa Safo being the eldest of six recognized children, some rallied their support behind her to lead the family in their most trying times, however, others considered Israel Safo as the rightful heir to the throne based on public proclamations made by their late father before his demise in September last year.
This announcement brings an end to a family feud where both parties have equally done so much damage to their reputations and caused great disdain and disaffection to their fathers memory
Hopefully, this new found unity marks the beginning of a renewed strength, togetherness and oneness as they look forward to advancing the dreams, aspirations and vision of their late father.
