Absa Bank Ghana has appointed Stephen Ato Frimpong as the Chairman of the Board effective 1st october, 2026. Mr Frimpong succeeds the venerable Banker and legal practitioner , Mrs Frances Adu-Mante whose tenure ends on the 30th of September 2026.
Samuel Ato Frimpong joined the bank as as a Non-Executive Director in March of 2021 and served on the Board Renumeration Committee and the Board Information Technology, Cybersecurity and Payment Systems Committee.
He also served as chair of the Board Audit Committee and the Board Social, Sustainability and Ethics Committee as well as the Board Risk Committee
Mr Frimpong is a graduate of the University of Cape Coast with a Barchelor of Commerce Degree and a master of Accounting degree from the University of Texas in the United States of America.
He is a very experienced corporate executive who served as the Vice President and Chief Audit Executive at Kimberly Clark Corporations, leading the company’s global internal audit functions and overseeing compliance systems and ethics-related investigations.
He is a certified Public accountant and a certified management accountant. His extensive boardroom experience and corporate insights would be instrumental and the bank navigates the ever evolving financial landscape shaped by digital transformation, regulatory reforms and customer experience
