Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the high-profile Ambulance trial, is standing his ground in the face of Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame’s decision to appeal the Court of Appeal’s ruling that acquitted him and Minority Leader Dr. Cassel Ato Forson.

In a recent interview with journalists in Accra, Jakpa confidently stated his willingness to go head-to-head with the Attorney-General in any court. He declared, “I’m more than prepared, always ready. If the Attorney-General wants to go to the Supreme Court to appeal the ruling, I will meet him there. Even if he wants a review, I will meet him there. Wherever he wants to go, I don’t have an issue at all.”

Jakpa also expressed his readiness to face the government, boldly claiming, “I’m ready for this government. My enemies and detractors have been put to shame; I have been vindicated.”

The Court of Appeal recently overturned the trial court’s decision requiring Dr. Forson to defend himself in the ongoing ambulance case. This reversal followed a High Court ruling on June 6, which rejected Dr. Forson’s plea for a mistrial and an investigation into the conduct of the Attorney General.

Dr. Forson had submitted additional evidence on June 3, citing a leaked tape where the Attorney-General allegedly tried to manipulate Jakpa to incriminate him in the trial. Dr. Forson’s legal team argued that the Attorney-General’s actions warranted a mistrial and demanded that the prosecution be declared invalid.

The Court of Appeal upheld Dr. Forson’s appeal with a 2:1 majority decision and also acquitted businessman Richard Jakpa.

As the legal battle continues, Jakpa remains resolute in his stance and is prepared to face any legal challenges that come his way. The unfolding events in the Ambulance trial are set to shape the course of justice and public confidence in the judicial process.
