The Black Princesses of Ghana are on a mission to rewrite history by making it to the knockout stage of the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Head coach Yussif Basigi recently shared the team’s determination and hard work during a media briefing at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on July 22, 2024.
Basigi acknowledged the team’s struggles in past tournaments, especially during the 2018 World Cup, when administrative issues affected their performance. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about the team’s chances this time around.
“We are all looking forward to breaking that jinx. So we have made the girls aware, just as we the technical staff are also aware,” Basigi said.
Ghana will face tough competition in Group E, with matchups against former World champions Japan, Austria, and New Zealand. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
With Basigi’s leadership and the team’s determination, the Black Princesses are ready to give it their all on the world stage and make Ghana proud. Stay tuned as they aim to make history at the tournament.
