Fenerbahce’s Ghanaian defender, Alexander Djiku, has showered praise on the club’s new manager, Jose Mourinho, for his tactical brilliance as the team gears up for the new season.

The 29-year-old Djiku, who had an impressive debut season with Fenerbahce after joining last summer, has been impressed with Mourinho’s approach since taking charge. The defender featured in 36 games, scoring three goals, and providing two assists.

With Mourinho making his first foray into Turkish football, Djiku believes the team is working hard to adapt to the new coach’s game tactics and philosophy. The Portuguese manager has a storied coaching career, having managed top clubs in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.

Fenerbahce’s previous manager, Ismail Kartal, was sacked after the team narrowly missed out on the Turkish title to rivals Galatasaray by just three points.

Speaking to Fenerbahce TV, Djiku expressed satisfaction with the team’s preseason preparations, saying, “Our training is going well. We have a friendly match coming up, and it is approaching. We are increasing our level and rhythm. Last year, there was a good and quality team. Many players continue this year as well.”

Djiku also spoke highly of Mourinho, saying, “We are trying to understand and establish our coach’s game tactics and philosophy. He is truly a great coach and tactician. He has won everything throughout his career and is a football legend. Benefiting from his experience makes us very happy.”

As Fenerbahce looks to challenge for the Turkish title under Mourinho’s guidance, Djiku’s praise for the coach signals a positive start to the new season for the Istanbul-based club.
