SC Freiburg’s Ghanaian midfielder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, is making a cautious return to action after being sidelined for one and a half years due to injury.
The 28-year-old is still following a low-intensity training plan, as reported by journalist Nik Staiger from Badische Zeitung.
Kyereh recently took part in the initial training session but had to switch to the ergometer for the rest of the session. His activities during the early stages of his comeback have been mainly focused on weight training, with some light running.
After suffering a cruciate ligament injury in February 2023, Kyereh has been working hard to recover and regain his fitness. The injury came just six months after he joined Freiburg, where he had managed to secure a spot in the starting lineup ten times across different competitions.
With the long period of absence, Kyereh faces a significant challenge in getting back to match fitness. However, his main focus at the moment is on reaching full physical fitness before taking further steps towards a return to competitive action.
