Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a passionate plea to the Ghana Police Service to ensure a peaceful and violence-free election in the upcoming December polls.
Speaking at an event at the Police CID Headquarters, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of the police in maintaining peace and upholding Ghana’s democratic achievements.
Acknowledging the vital role of the police in the electoral process, Dr. Bawumia highlighted their responsibility in ensuring a fair and peaceful election. He stressed that the police service plays an indispensable role in the functioning of democracy in the country and without their effective participation, Ghana’s democratic framework would be compromised.
Dr. Bawumia commended the ‘Snatch Them Young’ policing initiative, which focuses on school children, among other initiatives, for ensuring a more responsive, accountable, and operationally effective policing institution. He urged the police to continue to do more, especially as the nation prepares for the general elections on December 7th.
In his closing remarks, Vice President Bawumia urged the police to uphold their duty to protect and preserve the integrity of the electoral process, ensuring a peaceful and fair election for all. Let us all join hands in ensuring a violence-free election and upholding the democratic values of Ghana.
