The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has come out to refute recent allegations made by North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, concerning the sale of state lands to government cronies.

These allegations, according to the Ministry, are entirely false and should be disregarded by the Ghanaian public.

Mr. Ablakwa has been vocal about the purported sale of state lands, including properties owned by the Parks and Gardens, Ghana Prisons Service, and other entities. He specifically mentioned that lands housing judges have been sold, leading to the eviction of the judges from their current residences within a specified timeframe.

In response to these claims, a press statement released on July 16 and signed by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, clarified that the current government led by President Akufo-Addo has not sold any state lands. The statement also pointed out that any lands currently under scrutiny were sold during the previous administration of John Mahama, in which Mr. Ablakwa was a member.

The Ministry urged Ghanaians to disregard the allegations made by Mr. Ablakwa, labeling them as politically motivated. They emphasized that key properties, such as the Du Bois Centre, have neither been sold nor leased to any private entity under the current administration.

The Ministry assured the general public that the government is committed to maintaining an efficient and transparent land administration system, guided by the highest standards of integrity. President Akufo-Addo’s administration is dedicated to ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and integrity in all land administration processes for the benefit of the public.
