Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has heaped praise on his England teammate Jude Bellingham, touting him as a potential candidate for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in 2024.
Bellingham, who currently plays for Real Madrid, has had a stellar debut season in LaLiga, being named the player of the season as Madrid secured yet another league title. Additionally, he helped the team clinch the Champions League trophy under the guidance of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
With such impressive performances under his belt, Bellingham has been widely regarded as a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or, and Mainoo is in agreement.
Speaking at an England press conference ahead of their match against Denmark, Mainoo expressed his admiration for Bellingham, stating, “Yeah definitely [on whether Bellingham could win the Ballon d’Or]. I mean everyone knows how great of a player he is. We see it every day in training here. He’s such a nice guy as well. He’s demanding. He has high standards that he sets. To play with him is great. It’s rightly so that he’s a contender for the Ballon d’Or.”
The 19-year-old Bellingham further solidified his talent when he scored the winning goal for England in his competitive debut against Serbia, coming on as a substitute in the 86th minute.
