Accra Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has pointed out the team’s inability to convert chances as the main reason for their difficult second round in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The team barely escaped relegation on the final day, a situation Ouattara believes could have been avoided if they had been more clinical in front of goal.

Speaking after the game against Bechem United, Ouattara expressed his frustration over the team’s repeated failure to capitalize on the opportunities they created. “Our main issue since the start of the second round has been our inability to score. We create chances but fail to convert them,” he said.

Ouattara lamented that the team’s final position at the end of the season did not reflect their true potential. “We started the second round just seven points behind the league leaders, but our inability to take our chances has left us fighting for survival,” he added.

Despite the disappointing season, the coach remains hopeful about the team’s future, stating that they are focused on improving their performance for the upcoming season. “We are not satisfied with our current position, but we are committed to making changes and coming back stronger next season,” he concluded.

Accra Hearts of Oak ultimately finished the Ghana Premier League season in 14th place with 45 points.
