Stephen Appiah confident in Alexander Djiku’s potential under Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce
Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, has expressed his optimism in Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku’s ability to excel under the coaching of Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
With Mourinho recently being appointed as the head coach of the Turkish club after leaving AS Roma, Djiku now has the opportunity to work with the legendary Portuguese manager.
Appiah believes that Djiku has the potential to thrive under Mourinho’s guidance, citing the coach’s successful track record with African players like Didier Drogba, Solomon Kalou, Michael Essien, and Mikel Obi.
“Jose Mourinho has a history of bringing out the best in African players, and Djiku has already won the hearts of fans with his approach to the game. I believe that with Mourinho’s arrival, Djiku will be able to elevate his game to new heights,” Appiah stated in an interview.
During his own time at Fenerbahce from 2005 to 2008, Appiah made over 60 league appearances and secured two titles: the 2006/07 Turkish Super League and the 2007 Turkish Super Cup.
Fans are now eagerly anticipating Djiku’s performance under Mourinho’s tutelage, hoping to see the defender reach his full potential and make a significant impact at Fenerbahce.
