Stephen Appiah, the former midfielder for Fenerbahçe, is optimistic about the team’s chances in the upcoming season.

In an interview with Responsible Gambling, Appiah expressed his belief that with some additional strengthening and the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the manager, Fenerbahçe has the potential to compete at the top level.

While acknowledging the strong team and manager at Galatasaray, Appiah stressed that Fenerbahçe, as the biggest team in Turkey, should always aim to be on top. Despite falling short in the league this season, Appiah praised Fenerbahçe for their resilience and fighting spirit.

“Galatasaray have a very good team and a very good manager too, but Fenerbahçe is the biggest team in Turkey and that has to always be the case,” he said. “They lost the league this season, but they put up a good fight, so surely they’re not that far from it. They have Dzeko and Fred and the rest, so the team is very good with a few strengthening here and there, they will be able to at least compete and be in it for the long run.”

Appiah, who played 60 games for Fenerbahçe between 2005 and 2008, was part of the team that won the 2006/07 Turkish Super League and the 2007 Turkish Super Cup. With his experience and insights, Appiah’s belief in Fenerbahçe’s potential to compete next season is certainly encouraging for fans of the club.
