Fuddruckers, the iconic hamburger chain that opened its doors in San Antonio, Texas in 1979, recently found itself at the center of a social media storm as rumors swirled about the closure of all its locations. The phrase “Fuddruckers closing all locations” began trending on various platforms on May 23, 2024, causing concern among fans of the beloved burger joint.
The speculation originated from a now-deleted TikTok video that claimed Fuddruckers, along with other popular restaurant chains like Pizza Hut and Applebee’s, would be shuttering all their remaining restaurants in the coming year. With over 50 locations across the US, Mexico, and Canada, Fuddruckers has a loyal following who were quick to express their dismay at the prospect of losing their favorite burger spot.
However, Fuddruckers’ CEO stepped in to address the rumors and set the record straight. In a statement posted on Instagram, the CEO debunked the misinformation circulating online, stating, “Our brand has been made aware of the misinformation stated by a non-credible blog. Our brand will not be closing all stores in 2024.” The CEO reassured customers that the franchise will continue to operate both nationally and internationally, welcoming new franchises into the system and promising a future that is “bigger, bolder, beefier than ever.”
Nicholas Perkins, the CEO and president of Fuddruckers and Perkins Management Services, is the man at the helm of the burger chain. The North Carolina native, who is also a professor at Howard University, acquired ownership of Fuddruckers in 2021 when the franchise was sold to Black Titan Franchise Systems LLC, an affiliate of Perkins. With a strong leadership team in place and a commitment to serving up the “world’s greatest hamburger,” Fuddruckers looks set to weather the storm of rumors and continue delighting burger lovers for years to come.
