Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations suffered a major blow after a heartbreaking loss to Burkina Faso in the semi-finals of the WAFU B Championship. T
The host nation, Ghana, started the match brightly but was unable to maintain control as Burkina Faso fought back strongly.
Burkina Faso’s long-ball tactics proved effective in the first half, leading to an early goal by Tapsoba after a costly mistake by Ghana’s goalkeeper, Emmanuel Armah. However, Ghana showed resilience and managed to equalize through Joseph Narbi’s brilliant strike from the edge of the penalty area.
The second half saw Burkina Faso take the lead once again with another goal from Tapsoba, putting Ghana in a difficult position. Despite Ghana’s efforts to level the score, Burkina Faso held on to secure a spot in the final.
Ghana will now have to regroup and refocus on their quest to qualify for the U-17 AFCON.
