Ghanaian rapper Strongman Burner has revealed that his fellow musician Akwaboah Jnr splurged over GH₵170,000 to rent Kempinski Hotel for his wedding ceremony.

In an interview with Pure FM, Strongman disclosed that the hefty cost did not even cover the expenses for feeding the guests. He expressed frustration at social media users who criticized Akwaboah’s choice of attire and other aspects of the wedding without knowing the amount of money involved.

The rapper further expressed how such negative reactions deter him from having a lavish wedding himself, stating that he would prefer a simple court marriage and gifting the significant amount of money to his partner.

“It’s disheartening when you’ve put money into a wedding and then people on social media criticize your outfit. If it were up to me, I’d just sign the legal documents in court and give the money to my wife. For example, Akwaboah’s wedding. He spent a lot of money. I was really upset when I saw negative comments about his wedding on social media. Just for Kempinski, he paid over GH₵170,000 which did not include food. The negative comments bothered me as his close friend,” Strongman shared.

Akwaboah Jnr tied the knot with his partner, Theresa, in a colorful ceremony on Friday, May 3. The star-studded event was graced by notable Ghanaian celebrities like Oheneyere Gifty Anti and her husband, Nana Ansah Kwao IV, as well as actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu and her spouse, Nana Agyemang Badu.

The wedding ceremony was a joyous celebration of love and union, despite the critiques and controversies surrounding the lavish spending on the venue.
