A security expert, Dr. Jones Opoku Ware, has sounded the alarm on the growing criminal subculture in Kasoa, Awutu Senya East Municipality, which he believes poses a serious threat to public safety.
Dr. Opoku Ware described Kasoa as a “powder keg waiting to explode,” citing the recent tragic incident involving the killing of military officer L/Cpl. Danso Michael over a land dispute in Millennium City, Kasoa.
According to reports, the only suspect arrested in connection with the incident is Benlord Ababio, believed to be a landguard. Dr. Opoku Ware called on authorities to take immediate action to prevent further escalation of violence in the area.
In an interview on JoyNews’ AM show, Dr. Opoku Ware highlighted the criminal subculture that has emerged in Kasoa, with gangs controlling certain areas and engaging in violent confrontations over land ownership.
He criticized the local police for failing to address the issue of land guards selling parcels of land to multiple individuals, leading to conflicts and undermining public safety. Dr. Opoku Ware also raised concerns about the lack of proactive measures by the police to prevent crimes in the area.
The security expert emphasized the need for intervention to address the root causes of criminal activities in Kasoa before the situation worsens. He urged the security agencies to collaborate and take decisive action to protect residents and maintain law and order.
