Popular Ghanaian actress, Gloria Sarfo, has opened up about how some movie producers have sidelined her due to her role in the local series, ‘Efiewura.’

The actress revealed that she was once viewed as incapable of expressing herself in English language because of her involvement in the popular series.

Speaking on The Ladies Circle on TV3, Gloria shared that she faced challenges in being cast in certain roles and being featured as the headline actress in promotional materials because of this perception. She recalled a time when she was told that her active role in ‘Efiewura’ might hinder her from playing the role of a wealthy man’s daughter in glamorous movies.

However, Gloria emphasized that it was her vibrant delivery of the Twi language in movies that earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in March 2020. She expressed her gratitude to filmmaker Shirley Frimpong Manso for believing in her talent and casting her in the movie, Perfect Picture, despite her association with ‘Efiewura.’
