The Vice President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Akuamoah Agyepong, has called on all Ghanaians to prioritize peace and unity as the country gears up for the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024.

In a meeting with the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Nana Akuamoah Boateng stressed the importance of tolerance and respect for differing opinions. He emphasized the need to avoid divisive language and actions that could jeopardize the nation’s progress.

During the visit, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for Ghana if elected, highlighting his plans to align import duties at the Tema port with those at the Lome port to prevent smuggling and boost revenue. He also pledged to enhance automation at the Tema port for efficiency.

The Vice President also boasted about the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration, citing the introduction of mobile payment options for electricity bills and the government’s support for the judiciary, Ghana Armed Forces, and Police with vehicles and equipment.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia commended the government’s implementation of transformational policies, including the issuance of digital national ID cards and Mobile Money interoperability.

He noted that Ghana’s Mobile Money transactions had surged significantly under their leadership, making the country a thriving mobile money market in Africa.
