Former Western Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Famous Tumi-Acquah, has cautioned the party against falling for the communication tactics of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He believes that the NPP’s strategy is to divert attention from issues affecting Ghanaians and instead create distractions that overshadow the real problems at hand.
Tumi-Acquah pointed out that whenever there is a significant issue affecting the nation, the NPP will strategically introduce a new topic to shift the focus of discussions. This tactic, according to him, causes NDC communicators to get sidetracked and lose sight of the crucial issues that need to be addressed.
He emphasized the importance of staying focused on pressing matters such as power outages, high port charges, tax burdens leading to companies relocating, corruption, and other critical issues. Tumi-Acquah urged NDC communicators to resist the temptation to engage in frivolous debates initiated by the NPP and instead concentrate on informing the public about the party’s stance on important national issues.
Furthermore, he advised the NDC’s communication team to continuously highlight their policy proposals, such as the 24-hour economy, to resonate with voters and give them a compelling reason to choose the NDC in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
Tumi-Acquah stressed the importance of repetition and consistency in communicating the party’s message effectively to the electorate.
