The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) recently launched the 2024 Constitution Week in Kumasi, urging Ghanaians to prioritize peace in the upcoming general elections. The event, hosted at the Asafo Palace, saw the participation of representatives from various security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Immigration Service.

Under the theme “Together We Can Build Ghana So Get Involved,” the celebration aimed to engage citizens on peace, civic responsibilities, and the significance of understanding the 1992 Constitution. Madam Kathleen Addy, Chairperson of the Commission, emphasized the importance of citizen involvement in nation-building and government accountability.

She acknowledged Ghana’s progress in democracy and peaceful coexistence, highlighting the country’s successful transitions of power. Madam Addy reaffirmed NCCE’s commitment to educating the public on civic duties and fostering sustainable development.

Nana Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu II, the Asafohene, commended NCCE for its efforts in promoting democracy and peace. He encouraged Ghanaians to showcase the country’s democratic values during the 2024 elections.

The chief also called for support from the Government and philanthropists to empower the Commission in fulfilling its mandate.
