NFL fans are familiar with the name Matt Ryan, known for his successful career as a professional athlete with the Atlanta Falcons.

However, there is much more to this star quarterback than his on-field performances and touchdown passes.

Born on May 17, 1985, Matt Ryan’s journey to NFL stardom began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After playing football in high school, where he gained the nickname “Matty Ice,” Matt continued his football career at Boston College in the NCAA. The talented athlete played for the Boston College Eagles from 2003 to 2007 before being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in April 2008.

During a January 2017 interview with ESPN, Matt Ryan’s high school teammates shared the story behind his famous nickname. Describing him as confident and composed on the field, they explained that his cool demeanor under pressure led to the nickname “Matty Ice” sticking with him throughout his career.

In March 2022, Matt Ryan was traded to the Indianapolis Colts after spending several successful seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. A year later, in May 2023, he announced his decision to join CBS Sports as an NFL analyst, emphasizing that it was not a retirement announcement. However, on April 22, 2024, Matt officially retired from the NFL, expressing gratitude for his time in the league and signing a one-day contract with the Falcons to retire with his original team.

Off the field, Matt Ryan is a family man, having tied the knot with Sarah Marshall in 2011. The couple welcomed twins in April 2018, further solidifying their bond and growing their family.

Throughout his NFL career, Matt Ryan earned numerous accolades and awards, including the league’s Most Valuable Player title in 2016 and being selected to the Pro Bowl four times for his outstanding performances on the field.

With an estimated net worth of $70 million, Matt Ryan’s legacy in the NFL will be remembered for years to come.
