The King of Asante, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has revealed why he is not ready to hand over the management of Asante Kotoko to anyone else at the moment.

In a recent meeting with the players, coaching staff, and interim management committee of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II disclosed that he is still dealing with the financial mess left by the previous management.

The King stated that he has already spent GHS5 million to clear some of the debt accumulated by the past management and he does not want to risk the future of the club by handing it over to someone else. “I spent GHS5 million to clear some of the debt of past management. This is the reason I don’t want to hand over my team to any individual at the moment,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said. He even went as far as to threaten to have the Ghana Football Association dissolve Asante Kotoko if necessary to prevent the club from facing relegation.

Despite the financial challenges, Otumfuo has urged Asante Kotoko to improve their performance on the field. The team is currently struggling with a seven-game winless streak and the King is calling for urgent action. As they prepare to face Samartex FC in the upcoming Ghana Premier League match, Otumfuo has demanded a victory from the players. It is clear that the King is deeply invested in the success of Asante Kotoko and is determined to see the club overcome its current challenges.
