Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Board Member, Vincent Sowah-Odotei, has called on supporters of both Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko to embrace the modern responsibilities that come with backing a football club.

During an interview with Citi TV, Sowah-Odotei shared his thoughts as Hearts of Oak approaches the final phase of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season. The club is currently in ninth place in the league standings after 26 games, and Sowah-Odotei acknowledged the disappointment that has surrounded the team’s performance on the field.

In light of recent events where Kumasi Asante Kotoko fans protested during a training session to demand the dismissal of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, Sowah-Odotei emphasized the importance of supporters aligning themselves with the modern responsibilities of being fans of a football club.

He stated, “To me, I believe Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, there’s one common denominator; our supporters must begin to catch up with the modern responsibilities of supporters. Supporters, management, and board, we all have boundaries, and we must respect the boundaries and allow everybody to have their space and take decisions.”

Sowah-Odotei’s comments serve as a reminder that supporting a football club goes beyond attending matches and cheering for the team. It is also about respecting the decisions made by the management and board, and allowing them the space to do their job effectively. By embracing these modern responsibilities, fans can help create a positive and supportive environment for their clubs to succeed.
