Bibiani Gold Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Accra Lions in a Ghana Premier League match, with head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso attributing the loss to a grueling travel schedule.

The goals for Accra Lions were scored by Mohammed Yahaya and Daniel Awuni, securing the team’s fourth win in the last six games of the 2023-2024 second round. This victory has propelled them to fifth place in the league table, highlighting their strong form in the latter part of the season.

After the match, Frimpong Manso spoke about the challenges his team faced due to the demanding travel schedule. Gold Stars had to play matches in Tamale, Accra (twice), and Bibiani within a short timeframe, leading to fatigue and physical strain on the players.

“We needed to press them and it was difficult; looking at the conditions we are in. Within one week, we have traveled to Accra on two occasions and then played again on Wednesday and then to press with such conditions, it was very difficult for us,” Frimpong Manso explained.

He also noted that the team struggled to press Accra Lions effectively, as they were comfortable on the ball and able to build their attacks. The physical condition of the Gold Stars players made it challenging to disrupt their opponents’ rhythm and force them into making mistakes.

Despite the loss, Frimpong Manso remains optimistic about his team’s performance and is looking forward to bouncing back in their upcoming matches. The coach emphasized the importance of managing the players’ workload and recovery to ensure they are in peak condition for future games.
