Ghanaian-German defender Steffen Nkansah was on target for Erzgebirge Aue in their recent 3-1 defeat to SC Verl in the German Bundesliga 3.
The 28-year-old, who was born in Germany but has Ghanaian heritage, started the match at the SPORTCLUB Arena and played the full 90 minutes. Despite his efforts, Nkansah’s goal was only a consolation in a disappointing loss for his team.
Before the game, SC Verl had a superior head-to-head record with three wins compared to Erzgebirge Aue’s zero wins and no draws. Niclas Nadj opened the scoring for SC Verl in the 7th minute, followed by goals from Lars Lokotsch in the 50th minute and an own goal by Marco Schikora in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.
Nkansah managed to pull one back for Erzgebirge Aue in the 77th minute with a well-taken right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Erik Majetschak. This was his first goal of the season, adding to his impressive 10 appearances in the Bundesliga 3 so far.
Looking ahead, Erzgebirge Aue will be hoping to bounce back from this defeat when they face Unterhaching in their next league game. Nkansah will be aiming to continue his good form and help his team secure a positive result in their upcoming fixture.
