Bochum coach Heiko Butscher revealed in a press conference following their 1-1 draw with FC Heidenheim that Christopher Antwi-Adjei was unexpectedly absent due to illness.

Butscher expressed that Antwi-Adjei’s absence was felt as he was a key player who could have made a significant impact on the game.

“Jimmy is always an option, he can do a lot and always provide an impetus, which is why he was completely included in our considerations,” Butscher said, highlighting Antwi-Adjei’s versatility and importance to the team.

With substitute Matúš Bero failing to make a strong impression once again, Antwi-Adjei’s potential return for the upcoming away fixture against VfL Wolfsburg on April 20 seems likely. Antwi-Adjei has made 22 appearances, scored one goal, and provided two assists in the Bundesliga this season, showcasing his value to the team.

Bochum currently sits at the 15th spot on the league table with 27 points from 29 games. Butscher and the team are hopeful for Antwi-Adjei’s swift recovery to strengthen their chances in the remaining fixtures of the season.
