Berekum Chelsea suffered a tough 3-2 defeat at the hands of Samartex in a thrilling matchday 26 clash in the Ghana Premier League. The Timber giants fought hard for the win at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Samartex wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Evans Osei Wusu scoring two goals before halftime to give his team the edge. Despite Stephen Amankona’s efforts to pull one back for Chelsea, Samartex responded quickly with a goal from Baba Hamadu Musa.
Chelsea mounted a late surge, with Amankona finding the net again in the 79th minute, but it was not enough to overcome Samartex’s lead. The victory keeps Samartex at the top of the league standings.
Speaking after the game, Berekum Chelsea coach Samuel Boadu acknowledged the team’s strong performance, saying, “It was a very good game. Tactically, we were disciplined. In the first half, Samartex dominated the game, but we fought back in the second half. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.”
Next up, Berekum Chelsea will face reigning champions Medeama in what promises to be another exciting fixture in the Ghana Premier League.
