Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has made a strong call for Prosper Narteh Ogum to step down from his position as the head coach of Asante Kotoko.

The pressure has been mounting on Ogum as the team has failed to secure a win in their last eight games during the second half of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The recent 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC on Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Matchday 26 has only added to the concerns surrounding the Porcupine Warriors. Their last victory dates back to a month ago against Bibuani Gold Stars. Agyemang, who is also the CEO of Ghana Digital Centers Limited, expressed his thoughts on the matter during an interview with Asempa FM.

Agyemang highlighted the urgency of the situation and emphasized the need for Ogum to resign in order to prevent the possibility of relegation for the club. He stressed that in all his years of supporting Asante Kotoko, he has never witnessed such a prolonged streak of games without a win. Agyemang also mentioned that the supporters are not willing to allow the club to slide into relegation and that Ogum should take responsibility and step down.

Despite being appointed by Otumfuo as part of the Interim Management Committee, Agyemang believes that Ogum needs to make the decision to leave the club based on the team’s current performance. As Asante Kotoko currently sits in 11th place in the Premier League with 33 points, they will be facing FC Samartex in the upcoming Matchday 27 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium. The pressure is mounting on Ogum to turn things around, but Agyemang’s call for his resignation has added another layer of complexity to the situation.
