The recent struggles of Asante Kotoko have been attributed to head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, according to former National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman Kwadwo Baah Agyemang. The team’s difficulties were further highlighted by a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC in their Matchday 26 fixture at the Theatre of Dreams, extending their winless streak to eight Premier League games.

In an interview, Agyemang, a former member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, expressed his disappointment with Asante Kotoko’s current performance, questioning why a team that had performed well in the first round of the Ghana Premier League was now struggling. He specifically pointed fingers at Ogum for the club’s downturn, criticizing the coach’s handling of team dynamics and his divisive comments towards certain players.

Agyemang suggested that Ogum’s approach to certain issues and players, including labeling some as “politicians,” had exacerbated tensions within the squad. He firmly stated, “In my view, the root of Asante Kotoko’s issues lies with Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach.” Asante Kotoko currently sits in 11th place on the league table with 33 points, leading to calls for decisive action to address the team’s poor performance.

Asante Kotoko’s next challenge will be against FC Samartex in their Matchday 27 fixture, where Ogum and his team will be aiming to turn their fortunes around and secure a much-needed victory.
