German-born Ghanaian forward Jamie Leweling continues to make waves in the Bundesliga, adding another goal to his impressive tally in VfB Stuttgart’s recent 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old was instrumental in securing the win for VfB Stuttgart, who are currently eyeing a spot in the UEFA Champions League. The team put on a dominant display in the first half, outplaying their opponents, the Eagles.
The goal-scoring started with Guinean forward Serhou Guirassy, who made history by scoring his 25th Bundesliga goal, surpassing Mario Gomez’s record. Denis Undav then quickly doubled the lead in the 17th minute, just six minutes after Guirassy’s goal. Leweling sealed the victory with his fifth goal of the season in the 37th minute.
Although Leweling has not yet made a senior international appearance for Germany, the Nurnberg native with Ghanaian heritage has left the door open to represent the Black Stars.
He was previously named in former coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s squad for a Black Stars match but was unable to join the team. Despite this, Leweling has showcased his talent while representing Germany at various youth levels.
